Kiri was named after the famous New Zealand opera singer, Dame
Kiri Te Kanawa. She was imported to the U.S. from New Zealand to
add a silver splash to our breeding program. Her silver spotted
pattern displayed the typical beauty that is in the silver gene. She
was a huntress as a kitten and fearless, but socialized well with the
rest of the household. Because the silver gene carries with it the
green eyes (in contrast to the gold/copper eye standard of the
traditional colors) we decided to keep brown tabby offspring in our
breeding program. We are now in the third generation of this very
out-crossed, unique, and personable bloodline. Thanks to Brent
Harbord of Hastings, New Zealand for sending us a valuable addition
to the U.S. British Shorthair gene pool.
